SKT settle the doubters, taking down Gen.G 2-0 in convincing fashion. Eagerness for engage and very aggressive laning phases delivered the victory to the team who showed their impatient fangs at the opportunity to dig into a redemption dinner. Khan and Mata were the forerunners, always dragging the rest of their team into the fights, not always willingly. This is what they had to say about their sweep today.
Q. Khan, it has been a while seeing you on stage. How do you feel about today’s victory?
Khan: I’m really happy we got the 2-0 victory. Last time, we had a 2-1 defeat against DWG so we had a lot of worries and we were preparing so hard so it is a huge relief we got the win.
Q. Mata, it’s your first MVP! A lot of fans were sending a lot of shoutouts for you when the MVP showed up. Any message for them?
Mata: Hey! This is SKT’s support Mata!
Q. How do you feel about today’s victory?
Mata: It was a clean 2-0 victory, so I’m happy, and also it’s my first MVP so I’m really satisfied.
Q. Speaking of game 1, you played Fiora and you got MVP previously on Fiora as well. Is that a champion who connects with you really well?
Khan: No, that’s flaming! I’m good at tank champions as well. No, I would like to say no.
Q. Rek’Sai had a lot of action in game 1, and you were winning the top lane.
Khan: Yeah, I had laning priority, and also Clid was doing really well, giving vision in the opponent’s jungle, so it was really easy for us to play.
Q. Let’s check out this clip over here. What was going on over there?
Khan: I was expecting him to recall over there, and my map told me wolves would be over there so I just wanted to check if Peanut was taking that camp, and Peanut was recalling there so I managed to solo kill him.
Q. Game 2, you played Riven. Last year, I heard you got a pentakill on her. How was playing Riven today?
Khan: We were really unsure about what to play in top lane, so the coaching staff told me to go with the champion I’m confident with. I’ve been playing Riven a lot in solo queue, so that explains why I played her.
Q. Mata, how do you think you played in the laning phase in game 1?
Mata: Varus/Galio is really strong in early game, so I wanted to respect and slow down, and wait until we were stronger.
Q. We have this highlight. For me, I thought the engage was too early. Were you just trying to focus on the Varus?
Mata: I thought it would open the teamfight early.
Q. SKT has a lot of awesome wombo combos. Who makes the calls the most?
Mata: We all do, but because I was playing Alistar, I just wanted to be proactive. Maybe today, it was me.
Q. Mata, your next opponent will be KZ and you’ll be facing Deft. He said he will make sure to get his revenge against SKT. Is there any message for Deft?
Mata: This time, I think, Deft, Teddy and I are going to perform well and hunt the alpaca.
Q. Khan, what about you? What do you think about the KZ matchup?
Khan: That is my former team. Rascal is my old friend. I’m thinking we’ll have to cook them.
